This 100% shea butter results from the fair trade that aims at sharing equitably incomes from the trade between southern countries and northern ones. By purchasing this 100% shea butter, you support Laafi de Tenkodogo community from Burkina Faso, and you guarantee a fair income to working women.
This 100% shea butter is manufactured in the purest respect of the african tradition. Women pick and gather fruit from the Karite tree. Each fruit contains a nut with a hard white kernel which is the source of the Shea Butter. Women boil the shea fruit in water to remove the fruit from the shea nut. The shea nuts are then spread on a stable surface to dry in the sun. The shea nuts are then boiled over a wood fire, while being constantly stirred, releasing the shea butter from the nut. After the shea butter is released, many hours of kneading take place, transforming what begins as a thick grey fluid to a smooth, buttery ivory-colored paste. The fully kneaded mixture is then poured into containers.
No chemical substance had been added, no dye, nor additive.
